Pseudotumor Cerebri Support Group
Pseudotumor cerebri (PTC) is a neurological disorder that is characterized by increased intracranial pressure, in the absence of a tumor or other diseases affecting the brain or its lining. Diagnosis requires brain scans and lumbar puncture. Characteristic symptoms are headache, transient visual obscurations or transient visual loss in one or both eyes usually lasting...
I havent heard of that one, but there are others who have been here longer then me lol, but that said, you only have to look at the symptom data base to see how individual our symptoms are.
It could have something to do with the individual anatomy of your eyes or skull or just a quirk of your PTC. or it could be some thing a few people experience but never think to mention?? i have learnt to trust my gut on PTC. if you say you get it with PTC and pressure then that is most likely what it is, and some eye doctors wont know the quirks of your specific symptoms better then you. no one is a text book case!!
and think of other examples: like how many of them dont know dizziness is a PTC symptom or think a one sided headache has to be a migraine not PTC. they dont know all the quirks of IIH that us suffers know.
But if you wanted proof, all i could suggest would be if some else comes back and says yep me too, either that or keep a diary. If you can tie in the swirls with bad heads and classic PTC days and disprove any correlation with high pollen days etc then that's probably all the proof you need...
That's what i do lol then i am sad and make graphs from the data, just so i can shove them up the doctors noses haha - but you dont have to go that far ;)
I hate when doctors try and tell you what you are experiencing! its one thing for them to try and tell you what they think you might have but to try and tell you what they think you are feeling is stupid. I had one doctor try and tell me i didnt know what type of headache i had. idiot. yes i did. and yes you know you can see whirling. trust your gut! stick to your guns.
hope the ice pack helps! and i hope you can see someone else next time! take it easy and feel better soon.
