Hi Everyone,
I found out there was a leak in my dura where the shunt tubing was. I take immunosuppressents for a kidney transplant and found out that my meds cause the dura to weaken, so my NS put a whole new LP shunt in. At first he had the setting too low so had horrible low pressure symptoms in the hospital and then he adjusted it to its tightest setting. Home now and after 4 hours low pressure symptoms start. I see him next friday when he takes the staples out. At this point I have no idea when this will ever end, just trying to hang in there, hugs, Jazzy

How bad are the low pressure hds?
Does laying flat help?or can you even do that after your surgery?
I'm hoping, that it is just a glitch, your body getting use to this new shunt and new pressure.
If you had a leak in your dura, then a lot of healing is going to have to take place. Be patient, be kind to yourself and hopefully, by Friday, you will not have much to report to the NS! Here's hoping! Cath

how did you know/find out you had a leak? what symptoms did you notice?
I have some weirdness going on with my VP shunt and wonder if it is leaking or I broke it. I have had two falls in the past month, both where I hit my head. The fall two weeks ago was bad and I hit my heat right on the spot where they removed it bit of my skull to insert the catheter. I have had a headache every day since I hit it two weeks ago and I know I am probably being paranoid, but I can't help but worry!
