hello all...today i had my first neurologist appointment! everything went well, the diagnosis was confirmed as pseudotumor cerebri. I will start me myds tonight (diamox) but very nervous about the side effects. I was wondering if any one may have any advice on how to combat or relieve any side effects if i do get them?
For me, it makes foods and soda taste funny. And it made my feet feel like they fell asleep. Except it was painful. More like a stabbing than pins and needles. And I was VERY tired.
After a few weeks the side effects were less noticeable.

You will be probably the most drained and tired you have ever been for about at least the first 6-8 weeks ....that is what I hear is "typical" and it is what I experienced . Then you might have a good day here and there and then ...just maybe you will get your energy back . Everyone reacts differently but that is the general concensus I think .
Soda will taste like battery acid and you will be compelled to keep trying it out of disbelief ! That just means the med is doing what it should sort of . Foods may taste different . For me , it is like I am tasting with a mildly burnt tongue .
The main thing is you will probably be exhausted for a while but just remember to give it a chance . It can be a very good drug in this fight .
I have been on Diamox since August .
Diomax will make your hands and feet feel like they are asleep all the time.I would compare it to , feeling like you are walking on bubble wrap.
It also made me more clumsy. I was forever dropping things cause I couldn't feel stuff properly.
Also, you may notice a new sensitivity to the cold, in your feet and hands. This was weird for me, as I had just gone thru the menopause and I was always too hot. Even in summer, my feet were like ice in bed.
Hopefully, the main symptom, the exhaustion, will ease up after 6-8 weeks. Be sure to keep a good eye on your bloods,your Vitamins can pay a high price for the Diomax.And, as the girls said, drink, drink drink!

I have issues with acid reflux and the medicine really flared this up for me. I ended up getting a prescription from my doctor and it's a lot better now.
It also affected my appetite a lot in the beginning. I was not considered overweight when I was diagnosed. But, without even trying I lost 20 lbs just because of water weight and my lack of appetite. So, I look at that as my silver lining in this whole ordeal. Unfortunately, my appetite has returned, but since I've bought some cute new clothes I'm trying not to give into it too much!!! :)
