Abdomen swelling - normal?

Ok, so I'm 2.5 weeks out of shunt surgery and thankfully I am doing a LOT better. I know I'm still healing, and its a process, and it seems to be going SO slow. Last night, and this morning though I noticed that my abdomen seems swollen on the side of the incision. The incision itself looks ok, no redness or anything, but its visibly more puffy on my right side, so much so that y husband even noticed. Is this normal? In some ways it makes sense, I did have surgery, but it seems like I should have seen this before now? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Well my side, and others, swelled like that when the tubing pulled out of its anchored spot and fluid was collecting outside the peritoneum. I also ended up having horrible pain under my ribs bc that's were the tubing shifted up and they found the end there. I think 2 weeks out of surgery and having new swelling should be seen by your NS right away. I had a ct scan to show where the tubing was.
I hope this is not the case with you, it mean surgery. But you should have it checked out now before it worsens.

Good news, well news at least...I had physical therapy today and showed the therapist my concern, according to him both sides of my abdomen feel the same and there is no heat and just general tenderness so he put it in a note for the NS and told me to watch it and if gets any worse to call. So while I'm not totally at ease with it, at least I know it's not just in my mind and I have another contact if I have any (more) questions and this one I will be seeing twice a week.
