People come and go . I have had similar issues to yours. I don't always practice it but I know that the best thing to do is open yourself up as much as you can and enjoy THE DAY and the people who are important to you in the moment.

I understand difficult family, but yours takes the cake. I know what you mean about turning yourself off. My way of doing it is that I don't recognize holidays. Not any holiday. Not even my birthday or christmas.
Please know you have a family here that understands and loves you. We are one of your constants.
I don't know to cheer about you taking a mental holiday from this dreadful disease, or whether to hug you and say things will get better. Congrats on your new job, btw!!! :)
Insomnia is a symptom of IH, at least according to our symptom data base. (Oh, while you've been gone we built a member symptom data base. Look for the thread. It has a link and instructions.) I think pain also interferes with the ability to sleep. I'm on lamictal, and that's another sleep-stopper.
