Pregnancy scare

Recently I went to my endocrinologist and had a full report done on me for my prolactinoma. I got the report and it stated that I am : G0, which means that I can't get pregnant right now, but I can in the future if I get on medication for the tumor. Right now I am not on anything to bring my prolactin levels down

Now here is the thing that has me freaked out right now. I have been on birth control since I was 13, and so I have always had periods. Right now I am on the NuvaRing. The last two months I had messed up my cycle, and because of it I bled for a week before my period, and then had my period last month. Now this month my period is now 5 days late. When I have a tampon inserted the very tip of it has blood on it (Sorry for tmi) but there is no more blood than that. Now I am scared about pregnancy.

Does anyone think I should be worried? Or does anyone know why I may not be having my period. I'm really scared... though my breasts are still secreting breast milk..

I was on oral birth control for 10 years before my diagnosis. The pill actually masked the symptoms of my prolactinoma. It wasn't until I quit taking the pill and tried to get pregnant that I my symptoms became more pronounced. I lost my period for six months and started secreting milk.

If you're worried about pregnancy, get a pregnancy test and put your mind at ease. If you don't want a pregnancy, continue using preventative measures. You do need to see a doctor to get your prolactine levels checked (blood test). It is not normal to secrete milk if you've never had a full term pregnancy! If your prolactine levels are elevated, you'll probably get referred to an endocrinologist and likely get an MRI. Take care of this - when I was diagnosed they discovered my pituitary was 5x7x9mm when it should only be the size of a pea. I responded very well to medication and my periods returned to normal within 6 months.

sorry, misread and didn't realize you were already seeing an endo. Still continue using birth control - you never know when you'll be able to get pregnant.

No, you should not be worried. Your prolactinoma is telling your body you our pregnant even though you are not. But, do not stop birth control if you are not looking to get pregnant. A illregular period is one of the most common symptoms along with secreting breast. Both should get better once you start medication.
You can always do a home pregnancy test if that puts your mind a ease.
