Hello Knight-writer, I feel like im on an emotional roller coaster. I have told my doctor of my swings and of my other overwhelming side effects- delusion and the desire to harm myself and others. Luckily I have 1 treatment left- and i see and endo. I was advised that the medication is the only treatment. In the monthes leading to my diagnoses and my treatment I was tearful and sad and right before i sought medical help i was hysterical. I have encountered everyside effect possible with Carbogoline. I am hoping to never see that drug again. My marriage has suffered greatly and my inlaws think I am homicidal. My family and friends are dreadfully worried about me and I hate being in public.

So do you think this is from the tumor or the medication?
Is your endo helping you get it removed or have you been approved to stop taking cabergoline?
My endo said if I was to get mine removed it could cause more harm than help. I just feel stuck.

Totally know what you mean. I sometimes wonder if it's my frustration with the whole thing as my hormones can be wrong for months before they bother testing my blood. It doesn't seem to matter to the doc if my testosterone is low as a result of my prolactin being too high. As a bloke, it gets in your head big time.

knight writer, i relate to all of this! curious, what did your endo say the "harm" would be by getting it removed? I am having the surgery in 2 days. I got that same opinion from one endo, but i went to 3 endos and 3 neurosurgeons and decided to go with the surgery; im not on medicine right now but the docs and I agree that i couldn't handle major negative side effects; i don't think i would make it through alive this time. so, i can't speak to the medication's influence, but i know the tumor affects me exactly as you described. I can even clearly see myself acting irrationally or childish or volatile, yet theres no stopping it. that is SO unlike the real me. and then today, I was feeling really great, like i was actually coming back to life as a person, but now it almost feels like it was a mini bipolar episode. I was so excited and pumped up for the surgery, next chapter in life, getting off the rollercoaster etc and i felt like the surgery was going to be the turning point. then this afternoon i was so tired and my body ached so badly, yet i couldn't nap because of anxiety. now its nearly 5am and i still haven't fallen asleep, and unfortunately none of this is all that unusual for me in the past two years. As Ashes said, I've also been blaming myself for my horrific behavior, and even after being diagnosed, i still blame myself and i think my family and friends do too. I will keep you updated on the surgery.

I have these exact same symptoms the day after I take Cabergoline. I'm fine the rest of the week, but the amount of anxiety I'm developing over taking it and dealing with myself the day after is becoming overwhelming, as is the uncertainty of what the side effects will be that day. Initially it was tiredness and pain, but now I'm becoming emotional, teary and clingy. My husband and I have a fantastic relationship, but even he is tired of this cycle and it's only been a month! Have any of you made it out of this phase of side effects? How long did it take?!

I had massive issues with my emotions and behavior with prolactinoma...most of it came on gradually and I didn't notice it was an issue for years. Prolactinomas are associated with high anxiety, and verbal bursts of rage (being snappy) for no reason or little reason. The severity of this depends on the level of prolactin in your system also in men it is associated with loss of desire of romance and eventually self isolation (you just want to be a hermit), I had all this, but my prolactin was over 3000 at its highest and all this went away when my prolactin returned to normal

On Caborgoline. 5mg once a week past 7 weeks. I can assure I have managed to isolate myself for my behaviour has changed noticbly. Avoid conversations and social life, be peaceful with my bordeaux.
