I've been on bromo and carbergoline on and off, and while the drugs have lowered my prolactin levels, they've never gotten into the normal range. I've been told that my prolactinoma is resistant to the drugs.
Recently, however, a doctor friend told me that the drugs really do work for just about everyone, the issue is dosage. Some people just need a much higher dose, and the side effects at those levels can prohibit people from taking those dosages.
Has anyone been in a similar position and had success by switching to a higher dosage? I'm currently taking carbergoline, 2 tablets (1 mg) twice a week. So far, the side effects have been tolerable, and I think I could handle a higher dose, so I'm curious as to why a doctor has never suggested I go higher.
Also, apparently the drugs absorb better if taken vaginally instead of orally (now THAT sounds fun...). Has anyone tried that?

I was told my tumor was bleeding on my initial MRI. To be honest it all kinda make since to me now after reading up on hemorrhaging pituitary tumors and the onset of symptoms I was experiencing. My endo has not upped my dose since I am feeling better. Crazy part I've all ways begun to feel better after shit hits the fan upstairs and that's even w/out taken meds; go figure. Endo claimed even though I may be feeling better, the cabby-cabs still need to be taken to prevent further growth.

Also, I'm not sure if I understood him properly. but it sounds like it's possible certain cells of my tumor are responsive to the meds, but some cells are not. Which would explain why the meds are somewhat effective--they DO lower my prolactin levels, but never to the point they are normal. So higher dosages can help, but those resistant cells may never be responsive to the meds.
