Hi all sorry i have been MIS. I got a ad cold which led to infection and was in hospital ER several times, had a bad infection in my already bad lung and was put on bed rest. It has been 17 days since taking my last percocet which was an addiction I had for almost two years and up to 80 mg a day every day.
Since starting the subs which i was very scared too, I have not had ANY cravings at all. However, Dr.'s to tend to prescribe to much at times and I am taking less than half of what i was told too and I am doing fine.
When I got sick, I felt the worst pain you could feel, the lung infection spread through my chest aand up my right shoulder causing severe pain. I was offered natcotoc pain meds even AFTER I told them I was on the suboxone and I said NO each time because I felt it was too soon into my recovery to even chance it. Let me tell you that it WAS tempting because of the pain I was in, I sat and cried because it hurt so bad just to take a breath. I kept praying to God for strenth to endure the pain and he gave it to me. I took nothing more than IB profin.
At this point I really did discover I really wanted to be well and that the only thing that even tempted me was sever legitamate PAIN. At that point it was mind over matter and I WON.
I was upset at the ER because I had no family alove to even be there with me, no kids, no live in partner, I was ALONE and I still did this and did what was right.
I truly think I was being challenged and I am SO glad God stepped in and helped me get through it.
I thank him EACH day for even simple things like having a brief oment of feeling normal again.
I am still in counseling and attend online meetings at times. still have a lot I am dealing with concerning my house foreclosure etc .. Thank you ALL for support and encouragement and pleas know that if your thinking of stopping, if i can do this, you can too! Blessings, Rose

It's a shame the detox would not take him. Maybe when he is more stable, someone else will take him? I know I have worked differnt places, that would accept people currently in w/d, which is kind of a catch 22.
The VA is not your friend, in my experience. You may be better off using the regualar community s/a , mental health clinic . The VA has a totally differnt system, that tends to be very slow and play by a whole differnt set of rules..
Is your son attending NA meetings or doing anythign else in addtion to getting meds ( like recieveing individual counseling? )
I'm not sure if Opitate blockers would be benifical for him, or if they are even able be to taken, at any point with or without subutex, but maybe that would be helpful for him to discuss with his doctor, to decrease the posibility of relapase?
Hopefully some of these things make you feel more at ease about his treatmet..
