I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
Yes, addiction always affects the family of an addict in a negative way.. My drug of choice were narcotic pain killers and later it was alcohol when I couldn't find anymore pills.
Your SO deserves alot of credit! I heard from others in the past here, that benzos are very difficult to get off from. Some people describe benzo withdrawals as pure hell so it's best to do a slow gradual wean off from those to give the brain a chance to rewire itself.
I would like to encourage you to post your journey wth your SO here because it will help others. Keep in mind that watever problems you are experiencing by living with an addict....will get better over time.
