Hi Everyone,
I am a mother of an 19 year old son who is battling a pill addiction. He has been off pills for two weeks, but is suffering through some pretty bad withdrawal symptoms. The doctor has him on Ativan and Colonodine. Another doctor recommended that he start up on Suboxone. I have read good and bad on Suboxone. I would deeply appreciate if you could share your experiences with this drug.
Thank you very much.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

To be honest, it helped me out alot. I was able to wean myself off of suboxone after 6 months with no withdrawals! You can drive while on it, and do anything you would normally do because you can't get High!
After 6 months, I was well on my way with AA and NA having finished an IOP and relapse prevention group counseling so I was more then ready to be completely off all mind altering substances.
It helped me alot getting me through treatment and I am not sure I could have made it without suboxone.
Good luck and God Bless
I assume your son is addicted to narcotic pain pills. Suboxone is only for short term use. Using it for years will make it extremely difficult to wean from!
Have him contact me if he has any questions or needs additional support. I remember when I hit my bottom, I just wanted to talk to others who had been in my shoes with narcotic drug problems so I would know what to expect, plus I needed alot of support just like your son does.
Tell him there are all kinds of people willing to help so don't be afraid to ask.
It will be difficult for the first few months and thats where the support comes in but once he gets beyond that, it will begin to get easier and easier. A year from his sobriety date, he won't have any cravings at all.
Good luck and I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers!
God Bless!
Your son is so lucky to have you fighting for him. I hope suboxone will quell his demons as it did mine. It gives me back the space inside my head that lets me think clearly again, let's me think my own thoughts again. And that's how I can open the odor and let recovery in.
Good luck! I hope you have a good doctor, as there are many out there who use suboxone to gouge desperate addicts. When my doctor retired, I had to go through several who wanted to charge exorbitant prices for initial consults and follow up visits and were very stingy with the medication, parceling out the tiniest amounts on some pre-set schedule. Others treated me with contempt, something I will not tolerate. If you encounter any of these problems or have any issue with the MD, seek another. I eventuallly found another who does not judge me and really wants to help.
Three years may sound like a long time, but there is no scientific evidence to indicate against long term use of the drug. As long as it keeps me from returning to the turmoil of chasing pills, I find it a worthy tool. Dignity and self respect are so welcome after the abasement and chaos of chasing prescriptions.
Bless you and your son, I pray he will get the help he deserves.
