You are in the right place. I started with a 3 week outpatient program, which helped me learn coping skills and how to build my support netwook. After that I did 3 months of relapse prevention group counseling. All the time attending the 12 step meetings of NA and AA which I still attend today. That was over 4 years ago and I have been clean and sober since then.

Are you on suboxone? Thats usually what you are prescribed while going through treatment. Some doctors will let you stay on it longer and some won't, all depends. Suboxone will take care of those cravings and you can work while on it, drive a car on it and do anything you would normally do cause you won't get high.

Good luck with your treatment. Try to dive headfirst in it and get involved as much as you can. Don't be afraid to ask the counselors questions.

thank you for the reply... I'm very happy to hear about how you being sober i can only imagine how much hard work it took since i am going through it right now. I was thinking about subs but my parents don't want me to do be on it. They just don't get it though they we're never addicted so its a different perspective for them. Thank you hopefully i can overcome this

Suboxone saved my life is all I can say. Its a shame your parents have preconceived ideas about the value of suboxone.

Jmo I am the parent of an 18 year old addict and i too didn't want him to take suboxene because i thought it was just a crutch and now in hindsight i wish i would have looked into it more because my son relapsed after 108 days of being clean and it nearly cost him his life i found him in his room blue unresponsive and not breathing thank God EMS got here very fast and saved his life. I'm 20 and I am an addict. It started with roxys before moving to heroin if I ran out of roxys. Today is 2 weeks (14 days) without abusing drugs but only day 2 clean (alcohol screwed me up). I spent 10 days inpatient to get through detox and I'm trying to get to as many AA/NA meetings as possible. Try working the program (AA/NA). Go to 90 in 90, join a home group, get phone numbers and use them, get a sponsor. If you want to make it happen, you can. And this acronym is something I love...FEAR: Fuck everything and RUN OR Face everything and RECOVER. I've had it stuck in my head since detox and it is so true, it's hard but if you wanna make it happen you will.

My husband is addicted to roxys really really bad. He can do up to 15 of them a day. He has been on them since 2004 due to a bad accident. He has stopped and gone back, stopped and gone back. Within the last year he has spiraled out of control, he has been on suboxone, methadone and nothing seems to help him quit. He says he wants to stop but he doesn't. He tries, he will take a suboxone for a day or two sometimes even 5 full days but then he goes right back. He was on methadone for 1 week 1/2 and nothing he would go dose in the am and do roxys in the pm. He has been in programs and doesn't last more than a couple of days. He says all the time he wants to stop and he so sorry for what he is doing but he has no control although he swears he does. This has taken over not only his life but mine as well and I don't know what else to do. All he cares about are his roxys....what else can I do at this point? I feel helpless.

Yeah, I am having a hard time stopping this med. The problem is I get so depressed & lethargic. Then I just want to feel normal again & I wind up taking them again. Any advise would be appreciated! Thanks.
