I started with percocet that was perscribed after 3 adominal surgeries. From there I went to Dilaudid which did nothing to fentanyl lollipops called actiq. I thought they were amazing, they always put me in a good mood, gave me energy and a sense of well being. Well now I am cut off and trying to do without them. I am grouchy and irritable all day and feel lost without them. Has anyone ever been addicted to fentanyl? Please write and tell me some coping strategies that I can try on my own. This problem only started in April so I think I can do it. Any suggestions?

Fentanyl is morphine. My boyfriend was given the fentanyl patch (plus oxycontin, tramadol, and every other pain killer under the sun) when he had his last back surgery.

Addiction crept up on him and he didn't even notice it (though he has never really had a problem with abuse or addiction before. He has a very strong will and just stopped cold turkey. Went through some discomfort for a few days and never looked back. Obviously this is not the answer for everyone...it's not the answer for most people, but it can be done.

Girl you are siging my song! I ate my fentanyl patches, got so f-d up I would black-out standing up. The only way I got over it was with the help of my God and the fellowship of aa! The irratibility is a w/d symptom that will subside but the urges wont until you let them go! If you dont already try aa or na meetings. Tell your doc. your addicted so he can help but most importantly dont try it alone, ask God to help or at least someone who knows you and cares if you live or die. The reason i say that is because when i quit I didnt care so I needed some there who did. That's just me though, Good luck!

I miss my fentanyl and percs. Xanax, concerta, ritalin, nothing takes the place of it.
It is really tough, but i have no choice but to keep on keepin on. I go to my therapist tomorrown and want to come clean about the depression and pain meds, but then she will think i am addicted to everything which is not true, don't want to get stuck treating all my problems with some crap like st. johns wort, because it won't work. will letcha know tomorrow what happens.

Nal: please consider Suoboxone. . it has saved MANY lives of "addicts" and it saved me. . who it appears is exactly you, right now. WHY suffer??? with withdrawal bullshit, etc? when there is a medication that BOOM, the very first HOUR you take your first dose, (because you have to be 24 hours w/out ANY narcs. in your system before you begin) any beginning stages of withdrawal are GONE! It also has a very "slight" analgesic effect. . although nowhere what I need, but maybe it might help your pain, as well? Really , check it out?
www.suboxone.com for a list of docs that prescribe it. . not just any doc does it . . or, feel free to message me any questions AT ALL you may have. . I know. . it's a really hard time and please. . YOU are not an ADDICT. . your brain chemistry/physioogy got "used" to a certain level filling your receptors and that has been taken away by stopping the Fentanyl. . Suboxone is a replacement-therapy, assisted detox.

i was addicted to the fentanyl patch, It is a bad drug, I had to detox off them. I lived in a fog for over a year. I am addicted to any painkiller..stay away from this stuff. contact me if you would like to talk more about it. I am struggling now and need all the support I can get....lilisa
