300 Days

It's been 300 days since the last time that I took anything stronger than an ibuprofen. I'm so proud of myself for hitting this milestone today. There have been many times where I wanted to give in to my cravings and say screw it. To go back to my old life where there was no pain. But instead, with weekly therapy, an addiction counselor, and the support of my friends and family, I've made it. I'm gonna keep fighting

Congratulations! It should be getting easier by now. I remember the cravings became less frequent and less intense as time went on. After about 6 months, I was feeling pretty good but 8 months seemed to be the turning point for me at which I felt like a new person.

They use to tell us in treatment that it can take as long as a year for the brain to rewire itself but it might be different for other drugs....not sure how that works but good for you! That's no small feat! Most addicts fail within the first two months and something like 90% never make it a year so keep on keeping on my friend! 65 more days and we will give you your one year party :)

Thanks bobinmaine <3 I appreciate the support. I tried getting sober multiple different times but what it really took was losing the love and support from one of my best friends :( it really broke my heart and made me reevaluate where my life was headed. I'm hoping at my one year mark to try to repair our friendship but we'll see how things go.

There is something called "Divine Providence" which is when God allows something bad to happen, to bring about a greater good. As time goes on, you will begin to understand it more.

When I look back on my own life, I can see why things happened the way they did. It all made sense to me and oddly enough, I was grateful for all of it, even the bad times.
