2 years and 10 months into recovery...
I had a boyfriend get me hooked on narcotics. I used for 4 years. Some horrible things happened and now, 2 years and 10 months later, I'm completely clean and sober, except for cigarettes. Only drugs i take are prescribed for anxiety which I am also recovering from.
I never went to rehab. I had criminal charges brought against me (not related directly to drug use) and somehow managed to hide my addiction from the authorities, my family, Probation, and from a Drug & Alcohol assesment. By the time I finally got a drug test I was about 5 months sober. I did it all by myself and man was it hard. They say a narcotics addiction can be really hard to quit. I was sick for about a month, but still managed to do my day to day stuff. Sometimes I get cravings but it's pretty rare.
The only people who know about my drug addiction are my best friend, my ex boyfriend, and his mom. I don't really talk to my ex anymore, especially about that. We have a child together which he has custody of (he is now clean and sober as well). His mom hates me. My best friend has never has an addiction so she doesn't really understand. I feel kind of alone- but also I'm really proud of myself. I want to shout to the world, "Look at what I've done! By myself!" Even my therapist doesn't know.
My question is, should i tell my family and therapist? I kind of want them to know so that they can continue to help me on my road to rocovery as it's a lifelong journey. My family is incredibly supportive. My therapist would not judge me. But do they really need to know or should I continue to keep it to myself? I am really torn.

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

It's totally up to you. If you feel you need to tell them, in order to clear your conscious. Pick the right moment when they are happy, and tell them.
It's actually a good idea to tell those who are close to you... in my humble opinion.
Secrets are triggers and over time can fester inside and cause worse problems down the road. That doesn't mean you have to tell the world....just the people who need to know so that they can offer support should you have difficult times in your life which trigger cravings.
If you decide to keep it to yourself, do not hold on to any guilt over it but leave the door open to telling family, at some point in the future.
Keep in touch with us. Many can identify with your story and will be helped.
Congratulations on getting free from narcotics, and good luck going forward.
God Bless
