Premature Birth Support Group
Premature birth is defined medically as childbirth occurring earlier than 37 completed weeks of gestation. About 12 percent of babies in the United States are born prematurely each year. The shorter the term of pregnancy is, the greater the risks of complications. Infants born prematurely are at a greater risk for developing serious health problems such as cerebral palsy,...
My friend had her twin boys at 24 weeks....one weighing 1lb 8 oz and the other 1 lb 9oz. . The reason the boys came so early was because her water broke with her son Ewan.
Both boys were in the NICU for months....Ewan passed away at 72 days in the NICU from NEC but Liam stayed in the NICU for 102 days and is a perfectly healthy litttle 10 month old now and doing great! You look at him and you never know he was premature!
Hang in there....really hoping all three babies thrive and grow!
Congrats again on your little one, he is too cute! Love your profile pic.
Our boy is home and happy and along with his big sister and little brother, he is our world :) But he is in several therapies, and still suffers some preemie issues. So it's not exactly smooth sailing yet... he is 18 months old now. Started solids not too long ago which is great :) He still sees a few specialists, has a bunch of specialised testing coming up, and all the therapy. But he is in God's hands, he will be fine. How are your bubbas today? xx
Holding off on the surgery sounds promising. My boy had major probs with his PDA too, was still large at discharge but thank the Lord it healed before surgery was booked (we were followed up by the cardiologist. Well, by everyone, still see a few, but no longer cardio!) xx
My twins were just about 36 weeks when born with one stillborn. My surviving twin went into a coma 2 weeks after she was born (due to aspiration/lack of oxygen) & has been in a coma now for almost 3 months. She was improving approx. 6 weeks of the incident & her ventilator settings were low, so they tried the CPAP thingy & it seems like I'm back to square one.
The only thing left is for a miracle to take place. I haven't lost hope but the prognosis the doctors gave me is extremely poor. I've decided to refuse any further blood transfusions bcuz I don't want my baby to suffer & deny her the chance of having a good quality of life. I'm at peace with my decision. I hope no one else has to experience what I'm going thru.
