My midwives from my first pregnancy recomended to avoid splitting them roll onto your siide when ever you get up rather than just sitting up if you roll on your side you never use those muscles and in turn they never split
I'd assume that your cramping is braxton hicks. I read that it usually starts around 20 weeks, though I never noticed it until last week (when I was 36 weeks). Very unlikely it has anything to do with your stomach muscles.
