Pregnancy Support Group
Welcome to the waiting room for anticipating moms and dads. Whether you're expecting your first or a new little brother or sister, meet other parents in this community who are also looking forward to a new addition to the family.
If you have an outdoor/indoor cat someone else should be cleaning the cat box.
hopefully you don't like sushi cause thats a no no. You should also avoid foods with sugar substitutes, some studies have found an increase of cancer in offspring. A few others are known to cause diarrhea.
Just recently in the news they have said caffeine, especially in coffee, can cause low birth weight or even early pregnancy loss.
Avoid salt of coarse and all that junk food that sounds so good.
Snickers seem to be my weakness. anyways Welcome to the group and congrats on expecting your first!
1. I can eat my meat cooked any way I want. I like my steaks medium and he said I could have them rare if I wanted to.
2. He said to stay away from salt water fish (particularlly swordfish and shark)
3. He said to stay away from super soft cheeses (like brie and goat cheese) unless they had been cooked
4. He said no caffeine
5. No sushi
6. No changing cat litter
7. Oh, and I had hear I couldn't eat lunch meat or corned beef, but he said that wasn't true at all.
8. Also, I specifically asked about sodium (salt) because I love hot sauce, pickles and other sodium heavy foods and he said that since I didn't have any sodium related health issues prior to pregnancy, it shouldn't be a problem at all. You'll have your blood pressure and cholesterol checked during pregnancy so as long as those things don't worsen you should be fine.
You'll get a lot of advice and sometimes it will be conflicting so your best bet is to ask and trust your doctor's advice. If you go by these books you'll end up eating lettuce and drinking water only :). Good luck to you!
