Pregnancy Support Group
Welcome to the waiting room for anticipating moms and dads. Whether you're expecting your first or a new little brother or sister, meet other parents in this community who are also looking forward to a new addition to the family.
I am glad your friend is doing well and the hospital is being so nice and accomidating to her during her baby's stay - that is good news and would make me feel a lot better as well about it. I will keep them all in my prayers, and hope their little one does ok! Sounds like everything will be fine. Take care!!!
So, you and your friend are very lucky to have such a kind hospital...Sounds to me like baby is doing great. Typically, they do not let babies go home before they reach 36 wks of gestational age. So, it makes sense to kep your friend's baby for another week, "just in case".
I am sure it is just a formality, and that in no time, baby and mom will be safely home, where they belong. You are a good friend for being concerned and caring, and consider my prayers added!
BTW, I hope your friend has been advised on the importance of breastfeeding preemies...who in particular stand to gain the most from bf.
Also, you may want to give her some info on organisations like ican.org; theunnecessarean.com; vbac.com...for resources to help her heal after a traumatic birth. See also my post on this topic: Birth trauma.
THe hospitals where I live are great to, I have had a privet room for my last to births for free!! I thought It was awesome cause I went through labour and delivered the baby and continued my 2 night stay all in the same wonderful room :)
