I've been having really really bad hip pain since I've been pregnant. Well I've always had it but since I've been pregnant its been worse. Its so bad somedays that I cant even put any pressure on it. Well Saturday evening and Sunday I put a heating pad on it not thinking anything about it. Then Sunday night my husband was like should you be using that? I was like I dont know why.....then he was talking about how it raising your bodies tempature and thats probably not good for the baby. So by then I was freaking out and got out 'what to expect when expecting' and it didnt really say...it said in one spot its not recommended but in another spot it said to wrap it with a towel and use it for 15 mins at a time. I'm not going to use it again no matter how bad my hip hurts but I want to know if using it could have cause any harm to my child. Thanks for your help. Hugs Monica.

I think you'll be ok. I take a bath everynight and I read something about hot tubs, saunas and hot baths being a no no....and then I read warm baths are ok..should I get my therm. out??? We read so much and hear so much we panic more than we need to..call your doctors office and ask just so u can feel better..take care:)

I doubt you can raise your body temp with a local application of heat. It raises when your whole body is in heat like in a hot tub. I'd ask your doc to be sure and it's likely he'll let you use the pad again.

i agree that you have to raise your entire body temp so i say you are okay. dont worry and just call the dr. i still take hot baths i just only sit in them for a few mins. i cant stand cool/warm water. i did this with my first son and he is all fine and dandy.

I'm sure it's fine. In fact, my acupuncturist had told me to put a warm heating pad on my back when it was hurting. You just don't want it to be so hot that it's hurting you or making your whole body feel hot and sweaty. Give your doc a call for reassurance, but I'm sure everything is ok.

I think you are ok. I do PIO shots everynight in the butt and use a heating pad after those. As long as it isn't on high, you should be fine.
