I am writing for my daughter who is slowly giving up. She is having her 1st child. She is 9 weeks along. She has morning sickness 24 hours. She can't eat, drink, watch TV, without vomiting. She is getting weaker and wants to just give up.

Her doctor says she has Hypermedia Gravidarum. The morning sickness that Kate Middleton had and has again.

The doctors are treating her like any normal sickness. She is seeing a new dr,. Tomorrow. Any RX they have given her are not working.

Just wondering if anyone has been through this or may know some one who has been . Would love to from you.

Her doctor just insulted her by implying that the "media" talked her into excess vomiting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperemesis_gravidarum It may be a little early for a dx of HG but she is experiencing a real medical problem that needs a little more compassion than her smart-alec ob/gyn is handing out. As for the RX not working, do you think Kate Middleton would have been hospitalized if the rx's work perfectly? It is a serious problem, I had it & was hospitalized 13 times but I had malformed kidneys from birth and it was chalked up to that. I was still treated like I was nuts, gave birth to underweight twins 3 weeks early. That was 47 years ago and until Princess Kate's story hit the news, I never knew what the problem was. I wanted more children but was afraid of it happening again, not just for myself but for the baby's well being.

I am not a Doctor, All I know is that she vomits everyday, 10-15 times a day, can't keep anything down. As far as the RX, it is the only thing they have tried to give her. He says that is what they "typically" give to women with "morning sickness"

She has been out to the hospital 3 times for low fluids. She doesn't even want to go out anymore because of the pain of the IV since she is dehydrated. I just saw her tonight, and she looks like crap. She kept vomiting while I was there. I feel bad for her, and it makes it hard for me because there isn't anything I can do.

I am hoping this new Dr. will have some ideas or something that will help her out.. She has missed work already for 3 weeks. She is afraid of them firing her for not being there. etc.

Her co-workers and some of the family thinks she should just "get over it" That she isn't trying to feel better and just being a baby. I have never had this , so I won't pretend I know how it feels.

I feel so sorry for anyone that goes through this, and I am very thankful that I didn't.

I also forgot, that she also has a cyst on her ovary the size of a grapefruit. They said that it is filled with hormone, the amount that a person would have with twins, even though she has one. They said they don't want to do anything about it, hoping that it will shrink, or it may blow and she will feel the worse pain she has ever had, and double over . It would last a few hours or so then it would be over.
I don't know ... I just wish for her to feel better so she can enjoy her first pregnancy.
