With my daughter, I was hoping for a boy. Found out she was a girl and cried.... Same as you, once I got used to the idea I just wanted her healthy. She wasn't planned as I was told I could not conceive, yet I went through a lot to maintain the pregnancy. Once she was born I felt so bonded to her. Everything I do is for my daughter, I love her so much and wouldn't change her for the world! I must say I even prepared myself to hear the words it's a girl.... When they told us, the sonographer hesitated for a moment and because I didn't hear the word "girl" immediately for some silly reason I suddenly thought Oh maybe it's a boy! My heart sunk to hear I was having a girl. I was thrilled the baby was healthy, but I was hoping they just missed something on the scan and I was really having a boy.....
After she was born, I miscarried one baby and then fell pregnant with twins - one of which we lost. I am 23 weeks pregnant and my daughter is now 10 months old. I have spent 3 months haemorrhaging severely and the week it stopped my waters broke... So it has been a painful, stressful pregnancy. And all I want this time is to birth a healthy, developed baby!!! As you can understand.... But with my little girl, I was crushed to hear the words "it's a girl". I am sure our pregnancy hormones don't do much to help! And I hate it that some people think it makes us bad or ungrateful mums!! It doesn't, it just makes us a little slower to adjust to the news :) xx
Our last pregnancy was a little girl that we lost at 10 weeks. This time a boy. I am thrilled to be having a boy (my intuition told me that's what it was) and of course to be having a healthy baby, but I'm already thinking about the next baby and hoping for a girl!
I have 2 boys, 20 month apart, and then I had to wait 10 years for my little girl. We used all the clothing we still had and then after 8 years and miscarriages we gave up and gave all our baby stuff away. But the wish to have a another baby didn't go away. I started reading up on acidic foods and conception times and we tried just what all the websides suggested and sure enough we got a girl. I was so sure I would have another boy, when I saw the ultrasound picture I just thought 'there is nothing between his legs". We are so greatful we have her, we wanted her for so many years but when we found out it was a shock too. I think it is normal to have a reaction when you finally find out if you have a boy or a girl. When you finally hold him in your arms you will be happy you have him. I would be more concerned if you had no reaction at all to finding out that you are going to have another baby.
I think it is totally normal what you are going thru. I cried when I found out my second was a boy! I had already started buying all the baby girl clothes..which I have until this day, btw. My DH insisted to "put a stop to my madness" by making me find out . He was thrilled with the prospect of another boy..."another hunter for the group!" he exclaimed. I thought it was our second and last child, so I truly was disappointed that I would be outnumbered...again.
Then, #3 and #4...not exactly planned. But by my 4th boy, everyone thought for sure I would be devastated. Not at all the case. I considered them to be bonus babies, and as such, did not even really care anymore.
I can tell you that 2 boys, close in age, will be very close and the best pf friends. and who knows? Maybe your third will be a girl!:)
But we all know we are blessed when we have a healthy baby... I'm weeks away from seeing her and getting restless!!
This is natural and nothing to be ashamed about.
