I am 12 weeks pregnant with my first child, (did have a miscarriage years ago early in pregnancy, not by anyone special.) by my first husband, we have been together 4 years, almost married a year. I had awful morning (all day) sickness between 4 and 10 weeks, now the sickness is almost gone, but I'm starting to get a bump, my back is constantly hurting to the point it hurts to even stand up. Lately I have been in the worst mood. I want to cry, I always want to be alone, but at the same time I feel so lonely. I feel insecure and unattractive, every woman in the world intimidates me. Hell, even some men do. I also feel like I hate my husband. And I know that I don't, its just no matter how hard he tries, its still wrong. Even when its not. And I feel awful. I feel like I'm pushing him away. I'm just miserable. I don't want to get out of bed, I don't want to be home cause when I am I just want to lay in bed and die. I have a history of depression and self harm. I keep trying to convince myself its just hormones... But I'm having a child, I should be ecstatic. I should be "glowing", and I'm just not. I'm just surviving day by day. I'm excited to have a baby, but not to be a mom. In fact I'm terrified. How am I supposed to know how to be a good mom? I can't handle it. Do I wait til the baby is 16 before getting a cell phone because they can be dangerous? Or give them a phone as soon as they learn how to read in case of emergency? Let them color their hair, or tell them what clothes they can and cannot wear?? I am going to be the main person in one single persons life, every decision I make is going to determine the rest of this babies life. How can I be good enough for that??? How can I trust myself to make an entire life for someone? I don't even feel good enough to be a wife, and now I'm supposed to be a mom..

Oh man I know what you're dealing with. I'm 21 and having my first. It still feels weird saying that. I have to keep reminding myself that it's true- I'm pregnant. I'm freaking out because I am not ready for this and besides my therapist no one knows about it. I haven't lived yet I'm expected to lead someone, show them how to live, be their everything. It's absurd. And I hate the idea that this is all trial and error because you can't exactly erase your screw ups from the child's mind... Can you? Hang in there. You aren't alone and the fact that you're worried about it probably means you at least have the potential to be a good mom.

My biggest worry is that right now we're also fighting for custody of my nephew, he's 5 and lived with us his whole life, so it's not like I'm new to changing diapers and 3am bottle feedings. But I have watched both of his parents constantly rip that little boys world apart, even one sentence they say will ruin his whole week. I just see how much a parent can effect their child. For him, his issues are obviously his parents to blame, but this time it's gonna be all on me. I am so glad to know I'm not the only one who feels that way. I just feel so alone and misunderstood lately that it helps to know there's someone else out there. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to have another little one running around, little Noah is even excited to be a "big brother" as he calls it. It's just scary

I have a feeling even repeat mums get scared shitless at the prospect of doing it all over again. Wanna hear a secret? I've changed two diapers my entire life, never made formula, bathed a baby once, dressed a baby like maybe three times, never cleaned a baby's bottle... I literally have no clue what I'm doing. But I'm going to be fine and so are you. You're already a great aunt by the sound of it, that's going to make you an even better mom. Not very many people would do what you're doing. Try not to worry to much.
