Pregnancy - Teens Support Group
This community is dedicated to the experience of being pregnant as a teenager. Pregnant teenagers face many of the same obstetrics issues as women in their 20s and 30s. However, there are additional medical concerns for younger mothers, particularly those under 15 and those living in developing countries. For mothers between 15 and 19, age in itself is not a risk factor,...

i had spotting for a few days in the very beginning it was nothing like a period although i was in total denial that i could be pregnant i took it as proof that i wasn't pregnant. when i told my doctor she told me that it was most likely implantation bleeding which is completely normal. still i would call your ob they may not be able to tell you anything until they get your results back but i would rather try and see then wait. hope this helps!

I dont have an OB yet. I am just seeing my doctor. it is not possible to see him until tommorow and even then, he doesnt have my results from my blood tests to know if I am really pregnant.

Some people are telling me that I should just go to the doctors now and explain what it happening, even though the results arent back yet.

I had spotting during my first trimester. I went to the hospital and they said everything was alright. They had to do an ultrasound though.

I am pregnant at the moment so I don't know if I'm having a healthy baby untl it's born. And i'm only 7 weeks pregnant. I had spotting for about 5 days and got worried and told my mom I needed to go to the doctor ( mines happens to also be a gyno) for my allergies. I really went had a pregnancy test done and it came back positive. My doctor wasn't concerned about the spotting it's completly normal.

i was about six weeks and started spotting after sex. i thought we had done something to cause m/c so we went to the hospital. they checked and said it wasn't enough blood to be a m/c but to go to the doctor asap to make sure. went a couple days later and the doctor said everything was fine that sometimes your cervix can become irritated since it's so sensitive during pregnancy. a week before that i was spotting brown blood and i had an infection and i got some meds for it. i'm 23 weeks now and the baby is fine. BUT. my cousin however was spotting brown one day, she went in for her 2nd visit and she was supposed to be 11 weeks. turns out the baby had died at 7 weeks and she had been carrying it that long without knowing anything. so no matter how little blood you see you should get checked out cause it could be nothing, or it could be something and you would rather be safe than sorry i'm sure. plus if it is just an infection it could cause m/c or other problems.

Spotting can be very normal in the first trimester. It could be implantational bleeding, when the baby implants into the lining of the uterus. Usually it is a pinkish bleeding. If you have any cramping or pain, or heavy dark bleeding, I would get in sooner, though if it is a miscarriage, there isn't anything that can be done. I would drink lots of water, rest, and not strain yourself too much (no sex, no heavy lifting).

"Once someone is pregnant, she no longer gets her period. However, other bleeding can appear similar to a period. This includes a small amount of bleeding when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus, and is known as implantation bleeding. This usually happens around the same time a girl would normally get her period and is totally normal. Other things, like a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy (when the fertilized egg implants someplace other than in the uterus), can also cause bleeding."(according to seventeen.com)

I had spotting at week 5, but you can get it earlier it can be from implantation. Also if you are pregnant and you have had sex your cervix is very sensitive and may bleed a little. My midwife said spotting is normal, but spotting with cramps is not. If you are really cramping and bleeding than go get checked out. A little cramping is normal to but it shouldn't be heavy.
