Pregnancy - Teens Support Group
This community is dedicated to the experience of being pregnant as a teenager. Pregnant teenagers face many of the same obstetrics issues as women in their 20s and 30s. However, there are additional medical concerns for younger mothers, particularly those under 15 and those living in developing countries. For mothers between 15 and 19, age in itself is not a risk factor,...
Another thing I would think about is your health and future. I ended up having my daughter right at the cusp of viability because my body wasnt ready to be pregnant. She spent four months in the NICU, four terrifying months. It is scary and an emotional roller coaster.
Also think about how you will support the baby and yourself. I live with my grandparents who help me out and i dont know what i would do without their support because it is frustrating and tiring and trust me even five months later (or close anyways) hormones still affect you. Lack of sleep affects you. Heck just having a little one who wont stop crying affects you.
The c-section I had to have was an emergency c-section and there were complications. I may never be able to have another child now. Time will tell on that one.
I dont mean to sound patronizing but in a way i think your mom is right. This isnt even approaching school, or the fact that most boyfriends (this wasnt my situation but i have friends who had this happen) will leave before or right after the baby is born. It is hard and exahsting. I will be your friend if you want no matter what you think is right, but before you give the full ok ask yourself if you are really ready to have very little sleep (by very little i mean im lucky if i get an hour of sleep durring the day). ask yourself if you are willing to say no to friends when they want to go to the movies.
most importantly (this was my case entirely) ask yourself if you are willing to take the chance that your child is born weighing one pound, two ounces and if you are ready to stay by her incubator, unable to hold or even touch her at times, wondering if shes going to make it till tomorrow.
There are some good times though. I got to take her home when she was four months old (took that long for her to grow big and strong enough and be medically able to come home). She is smiling and squeeling.
Make the right choice for you though.
