Has anyone had two consecutive c-sections and how much time was between the pregnancies? I had a c-section with my stillborn son on 12/15/10. My ob said to wait 6 mos, while my fertility dr. said 10-12 mos. I am so scared that something will happen to me. Right now I am planning on waiting 11 mos. My son was a miracle and we so want to start a family. Thanks
The reason you have to wait is coz the scarring from the CSection will affect the way the placenta from a subsequent pregnancy beds in to your uterus. I don't know the time scale, but I'm sure there are risk factors, and that there is a point at which the risk to the subsequent pregnancy falls below a certain level to say, the placenta will attach properly. Maybe you need to know the risk factors, rather than just be given a number of months. Maybe the OB has actual data, so you can make up your mind when you're prepared to try again.... Hope that helps
I lost my first baby on December 29, 2010. I also had a c-section and my doctor told me to wait 9 months to a year. We waited 6 months before we started trying and got pregnant at 8 months. My doctor was not mad at me at all for not waiting the recommended time. She said that the risk of uterine rupture is less than 1% and they have been monitoring my pregnancy very closely. I think you need to do what is right for you. I couldn't wait a year to have a baby so that is why we started trying at 6 months post-partum. I am glad we didn't get pregnant those first few months of trying though. I know the doctors like to give your body enough time to heal. I would maybe ask your doctor why they want you to wait that long and then do what you feel is right. You will know when you are ready. Good luck and I hope I helped some.
I had a c section last September and will have another one (God willing) this September-- my due date is Oct 17 but they will deliver early at 36 weeks. My high risk doctor told me that they recommend a minimum of 1 year between the surgeries (not between trying). I know every doctor recommends something different, and it can be confusing. I'm sure that my risk of uterine rupture/scar dehiscence is higher than it would be if we waited longer, but I don't really feel like I have a lot of time on my side due to my age (35) and I would like my children to be at least somewhat close in age. I also had a C section with my other daughter in 2006. Hope that helps, I can keep you posted along the way if you like. Good luck.
I didn't have a c-section but my doctor did say that she recommends 2 years waiting, I think it is a bit crazy that long, I have heard most say 6 months but longer if you can, more closer to the 12 month mark.
I had my first c-section in Sep. 2007. My second was in January of 2010, when we lost our daughter at 38 weeks. I just had my 3rd on the 18th of this month. We got pregnant 5 months after my last c-section. I didn't have any trouble with the c-section, but I do have a lot of scar tissue. My doctor said that having one more won't be a problem, but any more than that might be difficult. I am healing faster this time than with my last two surgeries:) Good luck!
My first c-sec was 4/03, my 2nd was 5/05, my third was with Parker on 6/09 and I will have a 4th on 3/11. I was told after Parker's to wait 6 months until trying again and I got pregnant almost a year after Parker.
Thank you ladies. I am not as scared now. I think I will try naturally in months 9 & 10 and do an embryo transfer in month 11. Good luck to you all ♥
I had a c section 6/04 11/05 12/06 and 8/10 Bryna was my only natural delivery she was 9/09 After this last c section my ob said she didnt want to go back in soon but did not say not more children
I have had two c-sections which were 13 months apart. I had my angel Cole by emergency c-section on 10/06/08 and delivered my rainbow by c-section on 11/06/09 at 38 weeks with no complications. After I had my rainbow I asked the doc how everything looked in there and he said really good.
Also, my Mom had two c-sections 13 months apart and didn't even know that there were risks back then LOL.
