Today is Caroline's angelversary. As if that weren't bad enough-- guess what else happened today? I got admitted to the freakin hospital because of the results of the NST and BPP that we had this morning. The baby's heart rate was high (170s baseline with accels to over 200), my fluid was low (5.7 normal is 5-25) and OH YEAH, they suspect the baby has his cord wrapped around his neck at least once (probably twice). I received one shot of steroids at about 12 today and will hopefully be able to receive the second dose at 12 tomorrow. The NST supposedly looks "great" now, but I don't agree-- although I'm not a L&D nurse, so I'm not sure, but it looks to me like the baby is having heart rate dips with every contraction.
The plan for now is to monitor me overnight, do another ultrasound in the morning. If the fluid is still low, they will deliver-- which undoubtedly means a NICU admission (33.5 weeks). If the fluid is normal, and the heartrate strip looks ok, they are going to SEND ME HOME????? UGH, I am just about totally freaked.
Any prayers or advice about this are greatly appreciated. I would also love to hear from anyone who has delivered at 33-34 weeks.
Oh gosh! I will be sending prayers up for the safe arrival of you baby boy! Thinking of all of you on your sweet Caroline's 1st Birthday in Heaven!
Oh Whitney, I had no idea. What a day....... I hope he will stay in there a little longer! But I'm sure you will be a nervous wreck if they send you home so I don't know. Praying for you even more today.
I am really sorry this is happening.. I had my twins at 32 weeks and they were fine. They did spend time in the NICU but they were feeder/growers instead of having major medical issues. Your child will be considered a late term preemie which is good. Still scary but good. You are in the best place you can be and Caroline is in your heart and that is all that matters. Ask the nurse to speak to someone at the NICU it will really place your mind at ease. They will walk you through what we happen etc. Best wishes...I am glad you got the steriod shots...that is really good
I'm so sorry you are going through this at all, especially on Caroline's angleversary. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Just to let you know that my niece was born at 33 weeks and my nephew was born at 34 weeks and they did wonderfully. No long term complications and only a short time in the NICU. They are both very healthy children today.
Hugs, Kelsey
HUGS to you and your little one, Annie
