Hi everyone. I am thinking about buying a maternity support band, and I was wondering if anyone else out there has one. If so-- 1. Why did you buy it? 2. Does it help? and 3. Which brand did you buy? Thanks!
I bought one when I was pregnant with Skyler. I got it mostly because it could help "lift" my tummy which seemed to take a little weight off and make it easier to carry. Sometimes I liked it, sometimes I didn't. Sometimes it put too much pressure on my tummy, and I would rip it off and say, "Not today." Other times, it helped and was more comfortable than not wearing it. I don't remember the brand though - I haven't gotten to the point of pulling it out of the closet again yet.
I've got the oppo maternity band, not sure if it's available in the US, but it's great, easy to use, not too wide, and very supportive. Don't put it on though, and then expect to be able to reach your feet to put shoes on!!! I've found breathing much easier, if I just put it on when I've done everything else.
I would recommend one of a similar style, because it's breathable, it's strong, not too wide, not fiddly, and it does lift the front of the bump to take pressure off the back, especially if you're standing for long periods or walking. It has tighening straps, which you can undo to sit, so you don't have to keep on taking it on and off.
Hope you find one you like.
I would love to get one too! I had one with my last pregnancy, it was more like a super tight skirt. I wore it under my belly and around my hips to keep my pubic symphysis tight together. It was uncomfortable because it made it difficult to wear pants with a skirt on underneath. I'd love to get something more supportive this time that is easier to wear and will still help keep me all together. Let me know what you end up getting Whitney!
