My daughter was diagnosed at age 7, we chose to start treatments after being told that there were no side effects. I trusted the doctors. I tried to do some research but wasn't finding much out there. I just had my daughters check up today (she is 9 years 2 months old). She has the supprelin implant now, but we started treatment with Lupron injections for three months before we got the implant. She is supposed to have a new implant put in in November or we can choose to have it removed and let nature take its course. She is currently 4'10". I was leaning towards not treating her anymore because of the hell she has already gone through. She has gained 37 pounds since we began treatment. She is currently 115lbs. I was disappointed to find out that the question had been closed and wasn't able to connect with any of the moms that had written on there, but the information was still quite helpful.
The injections are painful!! The needle is about twice as long as a regular needle that they use for a shot in the arm and the injection has to be given in the thigh muscle. We only did this three times before getting the implant. It was so hard to see her go through that! We were also worried about what she would go through mentally and physically if she were to get her period too soon, so we chose to do treatments. Like I said before, she gained 37 pounds since we started treatment. That has been hard on her mentally and physically as well. She has very low self esteem now. She eats healthy but isn't into sports, and her doctor assures me the weight gain is not from the drug, but after reading the posts from all of the moms in that link I included in this reply I know that it did. So, I think if I had to do it all over again, I would probably not treat her because no matter what you decide the consequences are not good, and we don't really know the long term effects of this treatment either since it is fairly new, but some of the people that posted on the link I have in this reply said they are having problems with PCOS after treatment was stopped.

We just started with the Lupron shots and I am so concerned with the lack of information and testimonials of the long term effect. So, are they destined to have PCOS after treatment? I've been told that if we did nothing that she would later develop PCOS. I'm so confused. When we decided to proceed with the treatments, I thought for sure we were making an informed decision. After reading some of the comments, I'm not sure now.

I my daugther is also 8 with precocious puberty ... also scarred to death to do treatment ... and not to do the treatment !!! What is pcos?? My daugther is about 4'7"....;)
