Hello everyone Im glad i found this support group i need some answers that will enlightened me. My daughter diagnosed precocious puberty. As parents were guilty because we dont pay extra attention to her body for the last two years. She is tall among her peers,and at 7 shes started developing breast and this summer body odor is so significant. And boom few days ago she had her period for the first time as a mom I cried secretly because she still a baby to me she still playing petshops and stuff toys right now.
Although she went to a stages from breast to pubic hair & body odor. The pediatrician will not do any test because she believe its the new normal for now as she said she saw 3 kids so far this year like my daughter.
My questions can she still be treated for precocious puberty since she already had menstruation?....Im afraid her growing will be also affected like the height. Do you think she will still grown few inches she is now 4'6" skinny and i can say she has long legs and arms. And do i still go for second opinion like pediatric endcronologist? The pedia order us some lab works though.

I know she is still a baby and is still playing with petshops and things. My daughter still plays My Little Pony and will turn 9 in a few months. It does break your heart as a mother, but one thing we must remember is: it isn't what happens that really makes an impact on them, it is our reaction and their reaction to it that makes the difference. So if you are upset and crying, she will think something is wrong with her (beleive me, I went through the same thing and still do on some days). If you just act like, "well, this is nature and everyone else may not get their period for a couple of years, but you will just be a little ahead of them. Maybe when one of the girls in your class gets her period you will be able to help her and tell her it's okay and lend her a pad."
The two things I worry about most.
1. Final adult height
2. Psychological issues from peer bullying
If you get online and you read posts of adults who started their periods when they were 9, most of them will say, yes, it sucked, but I got through it just fine. It was just part of life.
In short, try to take a deep breath. Step back, and realize that this is not the end of the world. It doesn't mean it is the end of her childhood and I hate it when people say that. She still gets to play petshop and house, and poinies. It is all in how you handle it.
Yes, go see a pediatric endocrinologist. Be prepared, they will want to do a blood test, a sonogram of her ovaries, and an MRI. All or any of these tests can be refused. The blood test is kind of a moot point right about now because you know she is in puberty. The MRI will be to check for any brain abnormalities (VERY LOW INSTANCE OF THIS IN GIRLS).

Now my concern is the longterm side effects of this drugs, plus my daughter is already 9 yrs old too and i can see she handle the period well too.
Its just us the parents are worried on her height because we don't want her to be bullied later on specially when shes in highschool, right now shes 4 foot and 8 inches the doctor said that her adult height will be 5'2" base on parents height. At 4'8" theres a lil left grown in height .....

I'm sorry that I can't be of more help and I do wish others would post their opinions/experiences. The final adult height is our biggest concern at this point, too. Will she be 4 foot 8 forever? Will she go past five feet? I don't know. Is being short worse than possible long term side effects of this drug?
The endo says there won't be any long term effects but I've searched and searched for studies that follow these girls into adulthood to see the oucome and I can only find one, and it isn't a reliable study. So do the docs really know?
Many women say being short is awful and we should do everything possible, but at what cost? I'm really am sorry you are going through this. It is heartwrenching and tough to have to make these decisions as a parent. Things that one way or another will affect them for the rest of their life.
One thing I want to mention, and this is important. Besides the injections, there is an implant called Supprelin that can be used. If you decide to go for treatment, I would go for the implant. Then, your daughter doesn't have to worry about shots. It stays in her arm for 12 months. If we decide to pursue treatment, we will go with the implant.

She didnt have side effects shes in normal self active in school play soccer the nurse said the active the kid the better. Hope fully it will be like this because the endo said we will treat her atleast 2 years trying to even the bone age which is our number one issue. Period stop but acne, hair and body odor still there.
