Twenty months ago my son Luke's illness started with what they thought was a ruptured appendix. But his Bowel collasped, which is rarely seen in young people. His wound got infected and he had an open wound for months with a wound vac in it. Then it got complicated with increased infections and ruptured hernias. he has had about 8 surgeries. He lives in Dallas and he even came home for 6months to pittsburgh for medical care. His last surgery was in Dallas in Jan.(he had surgery in pgh in June) He is still running a temp. but his wound is slowly healing. The scar tissue is great and he is in tremendous pain. He also has four bulging discs in his back( from the lack of abdominal strength), which they did steriod injections 2 weeks ago which haven't worked yet.Now there is another hernia...it doesn't end! It hurts my heart...he was a successful executive in a company...he was living large...he overcame so much in his young life and found success..now its a challenge to go to the store. Mostly he is positive...he knows he can succeed again...but the meds and pains are affecting him...I just want him well, safe and happy!
