That loss prompted me to step up and become a leader to take her place. I did so in her memory, with the humility of knowing that it would not make me immune to the struggle of PTSD recovery in which we are all allies together. That's why this week I asked for and got lots of support to help me through a 3 day dissociative episode. Fortunately, being open about my support needs while being a leader here worked because folks understand lives really do depend on it, for all of us.
Sending you my support, Marah. I still miss my first face to face support group leader. Her 5 years of leading me really helped me build my first PTSD recovery foundation.
Got to go. It's time to head out to my psychiatrist appointment.
What's the saying about raising children? "it takes a village"....I think of that with helping too. Takes a village. Because what helps you may not help me and vice versa. If there are enough of us trying, there stands enough of a chance that there will be someone to get through to everyone.
I teach my kids that life isn't a 50/50 thing. Perfect equality only works in perfect systems. Most of the time it has to be a 70/70 thing. We all need to give more than we think that we've gotten, because there may come a day, when we need help, and cannot give at all. At the same time, if it's 90/10, we WILL burn out...and that will help no one.
