TW Post Op Nausea Triggered PTSD
mujicaptsd
I got the post op nausea all day, the nausea about which I was warned weeks ago, that I thought I'd escaped.
Trigger Warning
Since by doctor's orders I've been on a liquid only diet since Thanksgiving (ending on New Years') lots of bile and dry heaves. Vomiting is my main PTSD panic attack symptom, too, so my body and mind exaggerated what was going on into panic and feeling really a lot darker about it all than was warranted. It took me until 9pm even to log on here today, which isn't like me.
Today was not an uplifting day. Support welcome.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

This rough time will pass. I find just being or trying to bring my attention to my breathing. Inhale exhale This helps me sometimes in calming and slowing down my thoughts Maybe some good memories thoughts about your retirement. How much better you will feel as your body heals
Take good care and I hope this passes quickly
I went through something similar. My DID was triggered by the feelings of helplessness directly after surgery. I'm lucky I was staying with a friend who helped.
Now I'm mainly dealing with major depression.
Coloring and crocheting is what helped me. And Netflix. I distracted myself as much as possible and prayed. The side effects from major surgery are crazy. This is a HUGE life change and adjusting is hard.
Nausea is normal. I have a script for zofran and I rely on that.
I'm sorry you're going through this. Maybe try and read a book. Get your thoughts out of your head and into something else. I've read at least 4 books since surgery. It's really helped.
When I'm not focusing on my triggers and environment it helps. Remember it will all be worth it in the end.
I'm praying for you.
i so hope this awful awful side effect abates quickly.
Love&Hugs,
silver.
You got this, Muji. Hope healing happens here.
Thanks to everybody else, too, it means a lot that you show so much care for me right now when I'm feeling bleh, you know?
I know that's going as scheduled, but I feel worse this week because of it than I felt the week after the surgery. Whenever I drink my protein shakes, too, my stomach gurgles like a cheap chemistry set. My GI tract is still remapping itself.
Bless you, PP, though, for speaking up about having had the same surgery just now. It was good to remind me we'll both be glad we did this in the end when we lose all of the weight they promised would fall off of us. Fingers crossed.
