The chicks are definitely not chicks any more. Babies grow so fast . . . The first of the he/she's has been announced with an increasingly clear crow heralding the dawn. In the suburbs. . . Not even I am naturalist enough to abide by a rooster crow 10 feet from my window. A few blocks over I could live with, but. . . NIMBY.
I am signed up for a "Poultry Processing" class this coming Sunday. ( http://www.edenscovefarm.com/classes.html ) I tend to bond far more deeply with critters than humans. The yaddahs of my blahs are sending blahs from yaddahs I didn't know I had. I am not even sure what it is I am sorting here.
For sure the way I use "processing" in my psychobabble may never be the same again.

I would search craigslist foe people wanting to by breeding cocks ans hens...then trade off eggs!

Roosters often get aggressive, too, start going after people...and I concur. No WAY could I deal with "AAHAHAHCAKAOOO!" at 4 am...
( My neighbors at the other end of the neighborhood seem to have a ROOSTER COLLECTION, probably for fighting. Yuck. I am surprised the neighbors have not called the SPCA every day for the noise alone. Hmm. Maybe I should call 'em. Might do.)
...if you get any more chickens, it might be best to go for sexed pullets at your local feed store. Older, larger, and definitely female.
Only humans think they are the smartest here on earth...I am sure the other species get a good laugh about that :D
