I know brain surgery sounds like the scariest surgery there is. Well, it is no joke, that's true. The brain surgeons used to come by me before surgery to ask me to "bless their hands"--their idea, not mine. So they were humble about what they did.
But they were really great at it. I had been a chaplain to the heart transplant unit before being chaplain to the brain surgery unit, and I came to see the brain surgeons with even more respect than the heart surgeons. I would have no problem putting myself in their hands.
So I just wanted to tell you it's great that you are reaching out for help with the nervousness because you saw a routing procedure not go routinely. That's why those surgeons asked for the blessing of the hands, because there's always that. But on the other hand, it can go well as it usually does and it can really improve your quality of life.
We're here for you as the appointment date comes. Much support to you!
I can understand why you are scared. One of my PTSD traumas caused serious physical damage and I was so young. I went through many surgeries trying to repair the damage to have children but things went wrong and I couldn't. Surgery is very scary. I have never had brain surgery but that feeling of being scared, nervous and thinking about it for weeks I did.
Vent away, it is good to release it, we are here to support you
