Tomorrow's the first day of classes again. Last week my PTSD got triggered about it and anxiety gave me insomnia that kept me up all night. But thanks to you, now I'm ready. I asked for affirmations from you here. Here's what I started with:
"Imagine a teacher who wakes up in the morning and says, Theres never enough time in the day. I work more hours than I have to really make a difference. I cannot possibly be expected to meet all of the curriculum goals without team planning time. Im so tired of the technology not working when I need it!
Now imagine a teacher who wakes and says, I will strive to reduce my students anxiety in their first class today. I will speak positively with others and listen with compassion.
Here are a couple more affirmations you contributed:
" May the cosmos cooperate for you sending out all the learning to the students. I might also include in a note of welcome to your students.
"Welcome, all of you will pass this class someday. I hope to teach you how to do it with Grace."
Plus, you sent me a link to this affirmation site:

And you sent me a link to this other affirmation site:

There were 10 affirmations there! (They're all great but your fave was #10):
The instructions really helped.
"I recommend recording your favorite affirmations on your phone as a voice memo, saying each one twice. You can listen to them on your morning commute, and recite the second repetition with the recording. This might feel uncomfortable at first, but keep at it! The power of affirmations is in the repetition. You can also write them on a post-it note and post them on your mirror or in your planner."
The 10 affirmations:
I am a person of high integrity and sincere purpose.
I am a competent and capable teacher.
I treat myself and my students with kindness and respect.
I am becoming a better teacher every day.
I am making a difference in my students lives.
The work I do matters.
I am thankful to have a challenging and fulfilling job.
I motivate and empower my students.
I believe in myself and my abilities.
I am peaceful and calm, and greet the day with ease.
Well, all of this worked. I'm always nervous the night before school starts. Like I said, last week the night before the first school meeting I was up all night. That's why I asked for this affirmation help for tomorrow this week.
Now your affirmation help has worked. I'm actually ready for tomorrow. I'm about to go to sleep and feel I'm going to sleep fine. Things this week are really different thanks for your affirmations. Repeating them like the instructions say to do has really helped take away last week's anxiety this week.
Thank you, my DS PTSD friends. You're really something, you know that?
