It *IS* possible. In fact, it is possible for someone without PTSD to get it as a response to dealing with someone they love having PTSD.
Also, it appears that it is a later in life trauma that pushes one over the edge and makes PTSD finally appear even if it didn't appear after the original trauma. Low cortisol levels can also be a PTSD factor.
