The Personal 100% - OT?

Statistics are tricky business. When it happens up close and personal, it's 100% at that range. What's going on with the other statistics in the survey is pretty irrelevant and all to often gets in the way of doing what needs to be done in the case at hand.


Arithmomania is one of the dx'es in my psycho portfolio. Arithmomania is no more a math gift than hyper-expression is a performing arts gift. It is a symptom of psychosis and I treat it like one of my more urgent psycho nag flags. When I find myself calculating statistics for how many people wore which color today, I reach for my psychotherapy toolbox. For whatever reason, stastifying color choices is one of my arithmania classics, but creative diversity happens. . .


The personal 100% is one of the by-products of my therapy for arithmomania. If I can't take it personal, I shouldn't even go there.


Again, I am not sure what reaching for, if this thread belongs in this forum or if I am even making sense in any forum.


Thoughts and reality checks welcome. Scratching your head and surfing on might be the more sensible choice.

We all have stuff Arfie, just how the brain responds to trauma and there is no recipie and we are all diffierent. DS PTSD is the misfits in society the outcast I feel since we are often misunderstood. You count things during the day and I obess about other stuff.

Yes, Run2, it is amazing the diversity of the ways human brains can respond to trauma and even more astounding the number of combinations that diversity can combine.

Yes, Simpson. That compulsion to repeat patterns is part of my arithmomania. It can, indeed, be soothing. The statistifying, as well, might have begun as self-soothing, as well, but I was on the verge of catatonic dissociation when spouting statistics was all I was able do.

Balance in all things? Where some is good, more is not always better?

Yes balance in all things, but don't forget the moderation of moderation, which is also healthy. In other words, an occasional imperfection is the mark of perfection, with occasional being the key. triple hugs

Personally, I believe it is the flaws that create the most interesting beauty. Flawless beauty is as boring as a surgically enhanced painted bimbo.

One of my favorite nerd happy hour games is inventions which would never have been accomplished without mistakes and/or ignorance.

The light bulb. At the time Edison invented the light bulb, any amateur metallurgist could have told you that tungsten couldn't be bent. Edison didn't know that, bent it anyway and there was light.

I think the stuff we do compensates for our trauma but I think it is all good unless it hurts ourselves or someone else. Dr Peter Levine said only the great ones in the world had also experienced horrific trauma, through the trauma once healed comes a gift. People who have marshmellow lives, have no depth, resilience, and creativity. I think it also brings patients and empathy for others. That is what helps me on my bad days when I feel hopeless and poopy...is that a word?

Are there people who think "poopy" is not a word? Gotta be somebody without kids in their life, but then, I think "theorate" is a word, too. Fits the grammar rules, and everything. I dare you to prove me wrong. . . Double dare ya. . .

:O) this is the ptsd super powers i think we get - the positive side of it having happened to us.

sometimes, the overwhelm of some of the stuff is wearysome.. is that a word? i think one of mine is creating new words or new spellings of them.

i do get into intense think think thinking and focus that uses SO much energy. it is, exhausting. especially wehn i started with an energy bank that had a below zero balance.

yes, i can relate. when i realise that it might have been better for me if i'd been able to shut that off ten hours ago or so.

Noomee, i think you still qualify for genius for your socks invention :O) wow!

and Run, it IS a word now :O)

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
