an anniversay which seems to have gotten lost in the string of domestic tragedies which cobbled together my little ship of fools is my wedding anniversary. that would be today. 43rd. anti-romantic that i am, that day in the domestic upheavals hasn't felt like a tragedy in itself. if anything, it has been a bit of a releif not being expected to play out a scene in a chick flick. i don't believe the romance writers have crafted scenes for celebrating the fourth anniversary of a second parenting career yet. yet. . . the writing muses are always a-musing.
despite the macho/executive drive to kill his inner poet, hubby remains the romantic of this partnership, a la male conditioning. delivering all the expected wifely responses to his romantic gestures feels somewhere between a test of my patience and a torture meaner than wearing bras. i reach for appreciating the spirit, but i have been honestly relieved to let the day slip by unnoticed for the past 4 years. we've stabilized far enough to have time to notice and? ? ?
dunno what i'm reaching for here. . . just sorting? ? ?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

i have zero doubt that grief is a dominant element in all this. first the grief of my gk's landing in protective custody, then the grief of their becoming orphans when my beloved son (their daddy) was killed in a car wreck. then there is the grief of watching all my carefully retirement planning fly out the proverbial window. i missed the seminars about getting 3 kids through college on a fixed income and geriatric energy levels.
