That is it....Meds are going
Ok, I am having issues that are drving me crazy. I spelled sterling, stirling. I spelled stalker, stocker. This is happening more and more. I think I am getting worse, my focus and consentration is so off and I do not catch these mistakes. It is making me look like and uneducated idiot. This was part of the 80 to 90% error thing at work that caused me to no longer have a job. I will also think in my head I want to write great and I type lock instead or something else. Then when I proof read, lock registers in my mind as great, therefore, no errors. Not to mention the words I forget to type like to, in, etc. I had a blank the other day and could not remember how to spell property. I had to look it up. I look up about 20 words a day.
Ok, I have had it with this. It has to be the meds I am on that are effecting my mind. They need to go. Funny enough I have started to reduce the Effector I take. Every other day I take 150mg instead of 187.5. I started yesterday and this stuff is going to be shitty to get off of. I was itchy, tired, felt sick and felt I was talking slowly. So Effexor is going to go and so is and then the rest of them too.
I am no longer prepared to trade good mental health for memory and other brain problems. I am done, it is more important I have a brain in head that functions. I will have to figure out how to live without the meds. I have come off meds before, so I know who to do it. I know what my problems were when I did go off. I believe there will be a brief period of high anxiety, uncertainly and fear that will leave as I get use to the world without meds.
I do have to say, the last 2 times I went off my meds, I did not do well but I do not think I gave my body and mind enough time to adjust. I also think that is part of the bigeer picture of lack of self=esteem, and confidence. I have found a lot of talk on effexor and that fact that is causing almost the same memory issues with others, tells me it is right for me to get off this as soon as possible. I am doing this.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

But if you come off make sure you have a plan. Vitamin b complex, valerian, high dose of magnesium at bedtime is what helps me. And stop being so mean to yourself. You are doing the best you can in the circumstances and that's all you can do. Perfection doesn't exist. Best of luck my friend. X
I needed the medications I was on when I took them. I was suicidal and had severe depression and needed help to get through it. It took time to see what medications were good, not so good and going through some serious hell. I also believe people can be on too many medications or the wrong meds. Is medication the cause of the cognition problems? Maybe. Is our brain function different because of medications? Maybe. Is our brain function different because of damage? Maybe. Everyone is different. I have come down off of A LOT of medications in this past year. I have seen major improvements in some areas and little in others, such as cognition during the day (and that could be because I am a high functioning night person). It does sound like a visit to your doctor is in order.
I think, from my experience you are absolutely right in that whatever you do, give yourself time to adjust to know what is working and what is not. It has taken me about a year and I feel I am finally in a very good place of medication and thought processing. I have also had to accept things just are not the same as they were before I had my meltdown.
But there are tons of other things that can cause it. Meds and alcoholic dementia are only 2 of more than I care to know about.
Continued support while you figure out what it is in your case, Spiral.
