i wonder if your dx would fit what i know as dissociation. i spent so much of my life dissociated that when i wanted to be in NOW, it was the hardest thing to do - still is sometimes. i just leave - gone.
now i have seizures that seem like dissociation - but i still fight dissociation.
i hope you can take credit for having gone to the hospital and done what you went there for, you know? that was a strong thing to do for yourself.
my life changed a lot when i started coming here, i found the person i never knew was here, the personality i didn't know i had : ) it took awhile for her to show up, but it is safe enough here to just be and figure things out, talk to some people you relate to.
sometimes just reading the posts for a bit helps; i did that to get the feel of the place. you don't ever have to share about your trauma(s) unless you want/need to. that's personal choice.
sorry i wrote you an article, i do that sometimes...
my name is Lilly and welcome to here
Thankfully, so far in addition to getting tired enough to want to quit for real every decade or so, in between I have had high functioning periods. That doesn't mean normal periods, nor PTSD-free periods. It means that I can function at a high level even with PTSD. I wonder what I would have been like functioning without it, but we'll never know.
I don't know when my next 10 year PTSD crash will come, so that keeps me humble. I keep close to everyone here, wherever they are with their PTSD, because I will be there, too, high and low.
Welcome. You're not alone, not even now in this. Sorry for what brought you here, but glad you're with us.
