today is the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. the longest day of the year on the southern hemisphere. my inner geophysist boggles at the logistics of turning the earth on its axis to begin the 6 month spin toward the other solstice of the year. how can anything on the planet be unaffected by such massive forces? i feel equally agitated on both solstices, but the summer solstice has far more channels to release the agitation. on the winter solstice, i just want to hibernate. can i reserve the right to chew the leg off of any who dare to interrupt my hibernation? arfity, arf, arf, arf. . . grrrrr. . .
