I have slowly come to realize in the past year with my aunt blantly stating I was "crazy" for being bipolar and that my rape my was fault. She blamed me for years. I have not received justice as in the bastard is behind bars. None of them are in my specific situations.
Ironically years ago my aunt sat at the same table with me hours after my rape occurred. Easter unfortunately is the anniversary. I have learned this year, honestly my aunt is miserable. She tries to play it off that she is perfect, and her kids are perfect. However, she has not dealt with her own demons and traumas she has been through. Same with my biological mother, same with my aunts kids. However, everyone here everyday despite the shit we have gone through, going through, will go through. We survive. We do because we choose to be here. We choose to talk, and listen and help one another. We choose to seek help when none of it is easy.
Some of the "happiest" people I know were going through hell but did not seek help or face their demons because they want society to think they are perfect. The people I have met who are truly happy is those who have been through hell and back and found peace and understanding through their journey. They always say it was never easy. But now they are happy. They still have moments when they are not happy or struggling. But such as life.
Each of us will find our own happiness because at the end of the day we took the time to get the help and recognized the shittiness.
I have a tattoo that I can see everyday.
"Life is a beautiful struggle". For me the glass is not have empty or half full. It is were it is. But the glass is refillable.
