I take them all at once at night, mostly, because I forget otherwise.
Even though we tapered me under medical care, I had that burst of energy Doo mentioned, and then I crashed. Again and again.
But I had no choice. In my case I really, really would like to have meds made it easier to get through nightmares and flashbacks. I teach at a community college. I've had to learn to keep teaching a class even when I'm having flashbacks right there in front of 35 students who have no idea what's going on with me.
So that's when I joined DS PTSD and I'm here daily, just like I used to take my meds daily. It started out of sheer fear that I couldn't do life on my own without meds, I couldn't go back to the way it was before 1995. I was afraid I would become suicidal. I had to have this DS PTSD support here. I treated it like taking my meds every day. 3 years now, so far so good.
It's up to every one of us how the pros and the cons weigh out, so don't consider my sharing as judgment at all. It's just my story of how my life off of meds has been possible, but it took a daily substitute and a lot of effort I'd rather not have to make. Just speaking for me. Support to you either way you go on the subject.
I'm on 5 psych meds... I know some people take many more than I do, but I feel like it's overkill. The med combo I'm currently taking was a literal life saver but I feel like I'm in a much different place than I was when I was 16 which is when it was first prescribed (even though that was just 3 years ago, it feels like an eternity).
Last year was a rough year and I can understand the concern of why I still seem to need meds. Each time I try to stop taking them, I'm always told to go back to taking them.
So, I finally gave in a bit ago and took the medications despite the fear of losing motivation when I get back on them. I decided to do so because a very good friend told me I seemed to be acting strange and I didn't want to chance any sort of.. episode?
