PTSD- marriage-there are 2 sides to everything
I always hated when people would tell me there are 2 sides to everything or I am making a mountain out of a molehill or he would never do that....you know, all those sayings that have exceptions.
Married 30 years abuse/violence. Divorced with PTSD
He is a dentist (ret), my dentist, and 2 weeks ago I got another diagnoses other then PTSD
I have Chronic Hepatitis C which was GIVEN to me during my divorce 7 years ago. The guy who was the donar felt guilty and told me 7 years ago appointments were scheduled, by my spouse, for this guy and me to come at the same time. He admitted knowing a dental instrument used on him, was not even washed and was used on me, giving me his blood. My ex said it was just for fun. a joke.
I will never get over PTSD. I don't understand how other people who had PTSD say they are happy and healthy today. It is part of who I am today.
How can someone, a medical person, give Hep C to anyone, much less his wife!?

My own PTSD is from childhood abuses and I accept it as being part of who and what I am today. Yuckus maximus on that part, but I am one of the people who you can't understand since I believe this handicap does not exclude me from a happy, healthy life. Please forgive me for being someone you can't understand.
Sympathies for your misery. May I offer you healing hopes?
As the last male to carry my family name, jljlost,
by not fathering any children I have ended the a long ugly dynasty of male behavior like you describe that has gone on for generations. I did it on purpose; after I got into therapy as an adult for the abuse I grew up in I got a vasectomy just in case I didn't learn in therapy how to stop being like the men in my family. Fortunately, the fact that I'm here shows that I did learn better.
I was that alarmed, though, because my family had a history of people who never learned better. For example, the grandfather I was named after was in the Army but did not serve in D-Day with his unit. I was told it was because he was such an outstanding marksman that he was held back in the States to train troops in basic training.
I grew up to find out that no, it was because he had gone to a local brothel in Texas. When time came to ship out to defend his country he had an STD that kept him from doing he duty with his brothers in arms.
What's worse: when he was recovering with his STD in Texas held back from shipping out with his unit, his wife, my grandmother, went down from Virginia to visit him. Of course, true to his nature, he gave her his STD during that visit.
What a guy to be named after, huh? I'm sorry your husband resembled him, too.
