I joined this group because I feel traumatized & have flashbacks from the emotional abuse I suffered at the hands of someone that's supposed to love me.
I jump at sounds, am shaky, anxiety ridden & confused.
Does this fall into the category of ptsd & how do I manage & try to heal from it?
I want to get better, what's the best way to start?
I don't really have anyone to talk to & am feeling isolated and alone.

I agree with 51percent that best way to start is to seek counseling if you can. There are so many dynamics to PTSD and it is different for each one of us. This support group, among the others are great sources for information and advice from others that suffer. Here you learn that you aren't alone in the world, that your feelings are normal, that it's ok to seek therapy. I haven't been here long but I have been helped a lot. My thoughts get jumbled sometimes and just reading posts helps me make some sense out of them.

I am very new to all of this. I didn't know I had PTSD and my trauma happened at an age where I really didn't understand that what was happening was more than not okay. Counseling and working through the issues is a long and hard battle. Find a counselor that you feel comfortable with. As strange as it seems, you should shop around for a counselor. Have a few sessions with a few different therapists to see who you feel a better connection to and feel you could talk to about this. Finding help from a professional will be the only way to get an official diagnosis. Finding support from friends, family, and support groups will help with the lonliness and help you keep from isolating yourself. If you feel wary of trying a support group (I was, but have now found them to be helpful just for the fact that it feels safe and supportive) make it a goal to go to just one meeting to see if you'd like it. You can just be there to listen. They will let you pass on talking.

I hope you post this on the emotional abuse board too, so you can get as much support as you can. I'm sorry you're in pain and feeling troubled. Good luck with a dx and welcome.
