PTSD diagnosis may have been for a long time

Hi,
I have had been evaluated by a physchciatrist as having PTSD
I was surprised to know how far that codpendent type behavior had gone back. Usually I was loyal and obligagted tried and fretted my guts out at many things that were said to bring success in my life no matter if I was good or bad at them The cluster of symptoms always winds up making a mess for me in the efforts I try to make in attaining and maintaining a normal healthy productive life. It seems as though from just being sensitive I have become some kind of prey for bullies, dead weight for management even though I get hard jobs done for their company. I feel like the world lacks good reciprocation and that karma is just a notion or gamble. I will familiarize myself with my doctors suggested literature and try to incorporate any practice that can help. does anyone here have any suggestions for someone who is prone to anxiety, depression, panic attacks, fear of dropping dead of a heart attack and then going to hell.
Tightness of chest mucles, numbness of other parts of the body like left arm of face.... all had been checked out, I even had a nuclear stress test, an ultra sound of my brain, too many ekg's to count and many other procedures...all checked out OK but still the affects. Anxiety, depression, anger, panic attatcks, IBS, fatigue...

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

I've been diagnosed with PTSD since 1995 and am high functioning but I also notice what you say "I have become some kind of prey for bullies...even though I get hard jobs done for their company." For me it's because in addition to fight and flight PTSD response there are the other 2 "f's," freeze and fawning. I teach community college, and I do fine with older students in higher level classes, but I actually lose control of younger students in lower level classes. Pete Walker's website about PTSD explains the four f's.

I freeze when they exhibit their characteristic immature behavior, and so they take it too far and bully. It's a shame, because I really love teaching. However, the older I get, the more pronounced it is. I have tenure now and 4 years until retirement, and I've begun to look forward to ending my career.
In the meantime, I came out at work with my PTSD diagnosis to claim an ADA accommodation with my college VP and HR head to stop assigning me those lower level classes with younger students I can no longer manage as a group in a class. It's a new thing for me to come out of the closet and ask for help, but I deserve it for my past career service, and I need it as I'm getting older now.
So that's what I did, just speaking for me.
The bulk of my own pro psych therapy happened while combat PTSD was still being called, "Shell Shock." None of my therapists felt like I fit the available dx'es, but we needed a name to call it, so we ended up addressing most of my symptoms under the the "Manic Depression" therapy theories. "Manic Depression" was renamed, "Bi-polar" during the course of it all. The PTSD theories gained respectability right around the same time that BP was gaining its sub-groups. BP I, II, etc. Going from that piecemeal start, are we surprised that most of my therapy tools are symptom-based? I address the symptoms and leave the big-picture yaddahs to the formally educated experts.
My formal therapy has been in maintenance phase since around 2002. The pro resources are still available to me and I use them when needed. I still gain great benefits from using pro-guided workshops. Most of my therapy maintenance comes through my peer support network these days.
That is mine. PTSD seems to be an extremely creative disorder. The symptoms and remedies seem to vary with endless variety.
Gentle support while you work out your own effectiveness ratings.
Like Arfie, I am diagnosed with PTSD and Bipolar disorder. But I am diagnosed with Bipolar 1 Disorder. I am also diagnosed with Panic Disorder w/agoraphobia and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). What I know about anxiety is that it can cause that chest tightness that you described and also the IBS symptoms and fatigue. Depression can also cause anger, I've heard that depression is really just anger turned inward. Since now you've been diagnosed with PTSD it could be the reason why you're having the panic attacks and cause of the depression. Just an idea and saying what I know from my own personal experiences with my diagnoses, but I know that everyone is different. I hope that this helps some.

I have been dealing with this disorder for quite some time now like most of you before this diagnosis was given to me. It wasn't until the cluster of symptoms was really bad and I could no longer work that I had to seek help. Normally I would not let on or try to let on to my struggle at the workplace because it would be noticed as a performance issue or disclosed as a weakness to others who would use it to cause me harm by deliberately stressing me out with things that they know or found which bothered me.
I will use this information and see if it helps in making the attempt to re-gain some of the ground I have lost in being better able to deal with and look at a more functional way to cope with the way that my body and mind react to things that trigger it.
I have been diagnosed with PTSD since 2008 and since that time I've had to go on fmla twice due to the impact it has had on my mind and body. The stress from work has destroyed my immune system, I've gained about 50lbs in the last five years, and my blood pressure went from an average of 90/60 to the risk of stroke range. I'm in meds and try to get to therapy. My therapist has been trying to do EMDR with me but because I am constantly retraumatizing myself at work I've never been able to really start the process.
I'm am very afraid that I'm going to drop dead or worse have a stroke and linger. I've got a 5 almost 6 yo son and it scares me knowing might not be there for him.
