Hello,
I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2012 after I had been living with it for several years. I would say I am out of the severe 'acute 'stage' of the illness and now in the management phase. This is what I tell myself anyway. Its terrifying to think about going backwards, and yet it is always a case of one step forward and two back when dealing with PTSD.
Sometimes I think I'm doing so well. But then a trigger happens, or a friend (I gave up on getting any type of kindness or help from friends) says something unhelpful/insensitive and the demon beast is back. Or when I am pre-menstrual it is like my PTSD is turned up to the max.
I have heard (in holistic medicine circles) that PMT is when trauma trapped in the psyche jumps onto hormones in order to try be processed. So suddenly PMT looks to be a litmus test for trauma recovery; which is an interesting angle.
I am just wondering if anyone has witnessed or experienced this. Anything that can help manage PMT and PTSD for 2 of the 4 weeks of a cycle. I just saw a Doctor yesterday who said she would assist with homeopathy etc. but my next appointment is a week away.
Also open to hearing from anyone who has tips or insights. I am working on a book about trauma recovery and I'd love to talk to people who will share their story with me and chat about their recovery.
It's been the most isolating and lonely road EVER with dealing with PTSD. Happy to be of support to anyone if I can :)

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

Well, good morning to you!Today is National Roller Coaster Day. Are any of you going? It's also National Tell-A-Joke Day! Come up with some and share!I'm not bright with jokes these days, but I'll start:"Today I ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon...I'll let you know." :D

Going from CC's PMS correlation brings to mind an adult ESL/Spanish literacy student I once had, back before the PTSD dx was available in US VA centers, much less in Spanish. This woman was kidnapped on her 14th birthday and gang raped for an unknown number of days. She is an African Mexican. Ouch. Throw-away people maximus. Zero chance of acknowledgement, much less justice. Her PMS was horrific. The weeks our lessons coincided with her PMS, our lessons were conducted while we walked. The walking gently massages the uterus with the natural motions of walking. The talking bled off her tensions while we walked. Seemed to help.
In more personal experience, I, too, am in "Maintenance Phase." That doesn't mean, "Cured." It just means I have the understanding and tools to handle it from here. I take my maintenance seriously. Part of my own maintenance schedule is the Daily Inventory. Staying on top of my own inner workings is critical.
Gentle support while you sort your own, Luna.
Frankly, hormones make ya nuts in adolescence (ask a psychiatrist---they won't dx teens for a reason) and PMS can be severe enough to warrant psych treatment by itself (as PMDD).... soooo.... I don't think trauma "jumps aboard" but the hormonal fluctuations make me more emotional PTSD or not, and that just leaves me more edgy and sleep-deprived, thus opening upthe mind to PTSD crapola.
This particular post is quite old by internet standards and solicitation is prohibited here, but the subject remains highly relevant. A *personal* post of your own would be appropriate.
