some of you are aware of the psychic flu theory by which i learned to be more gentle with myself and more patient with the process. i learned this theory from a psychiatric nurse practitioner with whom i worked for a few years way back in the last millennium. i'm a tad disappointed that her theory does not seem to have gained respect within the psych net, but they work tremendously well for easing my own self-abuse for the crime of suffering mentally illness.
a spin-off of the psychic flu theory is that psychotic breaks are a beneficial part of recovery. in order to free myself from lifelong defensive mechanisms that helped me survive growing up in kiddie whorehouses but are totally dysfunctional outside the kiddie whorehouses, i must **break** the myriad of ongoing connections to the defensive mechanism. can we call the psychotically painful process of breaking those connections, "a psychotic break?"
just a wandering wonder from my own just-a-patient brain. does it make sense outside the twisted channels between my own defective ears?
opines? reactions? more votes to elect me as the mayer of crazy town?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

the psychic flu theory holds that psychosis is as normal as the common cold. the grief of losing a loved one is a psychosis. the jitters you experience after a near traffic accident is a psychosis. everybody suffers at least one psychosis in their life. hope healing happens here.
beating someone up for having a cold is not overly sensible. lots of fluids, rest, and soft foods. don't rush the convalescence. be gentle with yourself and patient with the process.
I don't know if this nurse's theory is accurate or not. But it seems to have helped you be gentle with yourself or make peace with what happens sometimes, right? Isn't that the best part?
of all the words i have run etymologies on, none has intrigued me more than "psych." the suffixes change the meanings so radically that it is difficult to believe that psyche, psycho, psychosis, psychic, etc., etc., are variants of the same word, "psych." those definitions vary from dictionary to dictionary. add in the stigma and? ? ? holy cow! ! ! are we confused yet?
yes, my strictly personal healing are the best part of the psychic flu theories. they work when i work them.
It makes perfect sense that given some people's life experiences that psychosis hits... How much can one take ya know??
I have had a psychosis twice in my life both times with extreme paranoia... Not fun
Big hug and a blessing sweetie... xo
psychosis deep enough to get the traditional shrinks using the word is, indeed, no fun personified. insert red hot chili peppers here. "i don't ever wanna feel like i did those days."
the psychosis of the psychic flu theories is no fun, either, but it helps me manage the psychotic aftereffects of my psychotic childhood a bit more easily.
