OT I gave to a church?!?

I don't get along well with a lot of Christians, I'm afraid. Christianity as practiced in my vicinity is very light on the loving thy neighbor as thyself, far more into the smiting and the casting-out.
ANYWAY...

During the riots last night, a senior center under construction by the Southern Baptist church In East Baltimore, Maryland, was set ablaze.
This included 60 low-income apartments for seniors.

I'm sure they are insured, nonetheless, I gave on the church website:

I hope they will build an adjacent youth center.
Apparently the youth of Baltimore have trouble channeling their righteous outrage into positive, constructive action?

I worry that an online fundraising campaign may not actually go to the church, but into a scammer's pocket.

That is why I urge giving on the church site itself, if you feel moved to give.

Hey, blue, my dad was a fraudulent church fund raiser. He actually got caught and was finally thrown out of his church for fraud. So I'm careful about church contributions, because I actually saw, to my horror, my father and mother (and my sister joined in) repeatedly gloat about what saps church donors were while they spent that money on their own luxuries.

Your donation, though, is different. I live in Maryland and I belong to the NAACP here, so the pain of seeing this police brutality incident in the first place and then these riots follow is close to me. I really commend you for being so generous as to step up to a legitimate need.

There's so-called ministers out there apologizing for spending church funds on million-dollar yachts---and then there's those who try to hold their community together in peace and productivity. Donating to those will be no scam.

Big hug for you blue... I'm a big cynic as well... I've always stuck to big organizations and even they get caught at times

It's a lovely thing that you did though blue....God bless Maryland and what the people are going through there right now

    Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.
